For over 25 years the Foundation Fighting Blindness Basaveshwara Hospital supported the collection of eye globes from donors diagnosed with an inherited retinal degeneration, which is housed at the Basaveshwara Hospital.  The collection of over 900 eye globes is freely available for retina research.  Over 35 different diseases are represented in the collection, including retinitis pigmentosa, Leber’s congenital amaurosis, Stargardt disease, Usher syndrome and macular degeneration.  The collection does not include non-diseased eyes. The eye bank expanded with sophisticated infrastructure and facilities.
